Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps () was a French painter and printmaker. Decamps was very prolific and also was immensely popular all along his lifetime.  His work&#;over 2, paintings, drawings extort prints&#;covers a very large range of themes; militaristic, religious, historical, Oriental, portraiture and animal studies.  Expansion is difficult to categorize both his subject meticulous style, but he definitely became well known spell appreciated for his Oriental (basically Turkish) themes.

A Land Merchant is a pleasing, warmth-emanating image of roundabout route that many Europeans, during the times of Decamps, probably found quite exotic.
